I've given the latest AROD evolutions time to settle before adding more words to the qua-billions of bytes currently cooking ether, then burning through the ozone before finally disappearing into the black hole that absorbs events so-important-now but soon forgotten.

My stomach churns gassy from the to and fro.
But not from rage-resentment.

Just motion sickness.
Love.
Hate.
Love (of a ballplayer).
Hate (get a life, he's a ballplayer).
Love
Etc.

Until he either wins big and the big love lasts.
Or keeps losing the big one and I take a pill to forget him forever.

When he was Seattle's biggest M, I called him "hanger of useless stats - not in Jeter's Clutch Club Klatch."

Then he chose $ in Arlington Texas over winning in NYC = more contempt from me.

But he was willing to move to 3B to be a Yankee. (And, for the sake of the players union, he wouldn't subtract $ from his contract to be a Red Sock. GO.UNION.GO.) He's a gamer.

I.
Love.
Him.

Then the Arroyo slap. Sean Connery would say 'What a wooooosy.' Hate the useless stat stacker.

Then MVP 2005. Hmm, he does have extraordinary talent. Dimaggio's numbers went down in post season. DiMaggio always got pitched around. DiMaggio. Maybe I'll never love/know this guy AROD but I can love/live with his regular season production.

Di.
Maggio.

Then bust playoffs 2005. Ditto 2006 - Torre even batted him 8th. DiMaggio never batted 8th. GrrrHate.

But then he got me for good in 2007? So he's slippery-faux as Bill Clinton, but he moves through it all, doesn't need my love now. I love the one who needs no love from me because he loves himself enough without my love.

America was better with Bill.
The Yankees are better with AROD.

Then another crap post-season with Boras leaving a Baby Ruth bar in the pool at the Red Sox party.

And then, then, THEN: the press release - written in the style of an inside scoop:

"Michael Kay says that Boras told AROD that he failed him, the yanks had made the best offer. He (Boras) advised AROD to fire him. The current deal, which Kay says is a done deal, is 10 years 275. That saves the Yankees 2.5 a year off the deal Hank offered. Over ten years it is 25 million. The subsidy that he cost us by opting out was 21.4 million."

So now A-rod is back with the Yankees. After AROD talked to Warren Buffet. And a Goldman Sachs banker who gave Steinbrenner money to buy the Yankees back in '72.

?

?!

???!!!

What is this?
What is this that is happening?
Even if it's not about anything more than what it looks is happening...
I don't really know what this is.

Is Michael Kay reporting 'the truth?'
Actual facts?

He works for the Yankees as a broadcaster right?
Some of the time.

The rest of the time - a talk radio contrarian.

Which Kay told us the information?
Or is that not really a question to ask?

Is Michael Kay just an events describer?

A describer of press release?

Michael Kay as Ronald Reagan doing his first showbiz job. When Reagan sat in a radio studio in Iowa and described Cubs games off of a Western Union ticker. I think Ronny may have even done his own foli work:

"Crack! And Gabby Hartnett reeeeally got ahold of that one. Ooh! But Gabby's drive settles into the center fielders glove for the 3rd out. And the Cardinals win 3-2. Well, well, ah-well, thanks for joining me. This is Ronald Reagan reporting for NBC-Westhouse Red Network 3 Station KBW-Des Moines, Iowa go Iowa go!"

Isn't there a conflict of interest here?
Michael Kay reporter.
Michael Kay shill.
All in just one amazing Michael Kay.

Or is conflict of interest just an outmoded concept in a world where the guy who runs a pro-oil lobbying group gets hired by the President of the United States to be head of the Environmental Protection Agency?

HUH?!

Hmmmm.

Fell off the rails a bit.

I'm back.

In reality.

And in reality:

I'll (we'll) just keep him.

The greatness thing.

The bringing back the All-time Homerun Champ to the Royal House of Ruth - the Sultan who invented the title.

Plus the really real reality: No other town can pay for the right to put up with this dyspeptic ride.

Anywho: Whatever happened, everything has played out as desired by all parties involved.

The Yanks get to look tough on Boras and diva-child. Hank: "You crossed the line!"

A-rod can play prodigal son without dropping Boras.

And Boras can look like he wasn't willing to accept less than a raise on top of a raise on top of the biggest sports talent contract ever. Agents justify all of this going in. Like lawyers who defend mafia chieftains and then say 'it pays for the stuff that really matters.'

So the NY show goes on.

And I'll watch. Fast forward La Longaria.

Choose greatness over hotness.

I've rationalized this one goooooooooood:
Everyone loves an epic hero who's been an epic failure.

A(chillies)-Rod.

Reggie Jackson: Clutch but didn't make many friends getting there.

Maybe AROD will mega-Reggie.

Jackson's story played out in just one year.
Mr. October in 'The Bronx is Burning' 1977.
With the occasional revival production.

AROD's career is more the sine/cosine roll played out over as many years as will generate interest = capital.

Meta.

MEGA!

meta-MEGA.

Win or Lose....it's the end of a Tony (not Ridley) Scott movie.

AROD is the way overvalued real estate.
Doesn't get his asking price.
Blames it on the broker.

And still gets richer than anyone else - even without another bidder.
